New Construction | Additions | Remodels

Want to build a custom home or add to your existing home? Our company has fostered lasting relationships with quality designers in San Diego. Work with us to design & build your own custom space.

When you are not finding what you want on the real estate market, maybe it is time to consider building a new home, addition, or remodeling your existing home.

There are many rewarding advantages to building a custom home that meets your needs rather than purchasing a home with someone else’s design and vision. Building your own home gives you the power to make decisions on the floor plan, customize your selections, as well as choose energy efficient products that are good for the environment and can save you money each month.

If you love your existing home and neighborhood, remodeling an area in your home is a great way to breathe new life into your living space. Whether an addition, kitchen, master suite, or a complete remodel, a fresh new design will add style and functionality to your home. We offer a wide range of remodeling services for both inside and outside of your home. You can be sure that we will never compromise on quality and we strive to complete each project on time and within budget.

Your project will be assigned a project manager who will partner with you from day one to the awaited final completion. Whatever your construction needs may be, Woolsey Construction is here to create that perfect space that you will love for years to come. With years of experience building new homes and additions, we can walk you through each stage.

The following tips will provide you with a great launching point to making the best home you can imagine.

Here are 5 things to consider when
planning your remodel:

1. Zoning & Setbacks

In order to determine if a new home or addition can work for your property you can contact your local building department or if you are new to this process and would like us to conduct a feasibility study, that is one of the services we offer here at Woolsey Construction.

2. Budgeting & Funding

It is important to have a budget in mind when planning your project. Setting a budget and securing your financing will help you to determine the size and quality of the build or remodel you are able to do.

3. Design & Construction Team

After you have nailed down your budget it is time to get your designer and construction team involved. Designing your new home or new space can be an overwhelming and lengthy task.  For a new build or addition, an architect or drafter is the best place to start and will help bring your ideas to life. The initial drawings will be used to complete a submittable set of plans ready to be processed for permits. A designer will help to organize your project and give you a cohesive look using your vision and aesthetic. Woolsey Construction has spent years fostering positive relationships with local designers and architects. If you contact us about your project we can put you in touch with one of our affiliates who can help you work on a design that fits within your budget and your needs.

4. Permitting & Project Duration

With the high demand for new construction homes and room additions in San Diego the permitting process takes between 3 & 4 months for an addition, adn 6-9 months for a new home to complete and in some cases even longer. A typical timeline for most additions is 3-4 months, and new home builds range from 9-12 months. Depending on the extent of your remodel it can take anywhere from weeks to months to complete.

5. Construction & Completion

When taking on a project of any size, it is important to know that you will be partnering with your contractor in many areas. You will be partnering with your ideas, finances, schedules, space, and the overall construction of your project. Knowing this can be a long involved process from the get-go can help prepare you. When taking on a project of any size, it is important to know that you will be partnering with your contractor in many areas. Being accessible during your project to answer any design questions or address any unforeseen issues is key to a successful project.  As the client, the final decisions lie with you and there are a lot of them!  That is why it is important to have as much information ready before breaking ground on your project. It is normal for there to be room for the creative process throughout your project as you see it coming to life and minor changes are to be expected.

The Woolsey Construction Team is here to assist you with this process from start to finish!
